Quartet
A string quartet is typically comprised of 2 violins, 1 viola, and 1 cello. This is the most traditional string ensemble. This option provides the fullest sound and includes a melody, multiple harmonies, and a bass line. Many pieces are often arranged for quartets, so this option offers the widest variety of both classical and modern repertoire. Quartets work particularly well for large events since the sound projects well outdoors or in a large indoor space.
Trio
A trio includes three musicians with a variety of instrument combinations (i.e. violin, viola, & cello; 2 violins & cello; etc.). This option provides a melody, harmony, and bass line. If you are looking for something with a similar sound to a quartet but more budget-conscious, a trio would be a good alternative.
Duo
A duo consists of two musicians with a variety of instrument combinations (i.e. violin & viola, violin & cello, 2 violins, etc.). This option provides a melody and harmony or bass line. A duo would be best for smaller events.
Solo
A solo consists of one musician who plays the melody. This option is best for small, intimate events or a venue with minimal space for musicians.
